About Us

Copdock Kennels and Boarding Cattery has been established on this site for 50 years. We are set in peaceful 1.5 acres of private land on the edge of Ipswich which is very accessible from both the A12 and the A14. We are also only an hour away from London by train or Stansted Airport.

We are proud of the fact that customers come back to us time and again. Unlike many kennels, viewings are encouraged and welcomed during our opening hours so we can show you round and chat about you and your pets in more detail.

We believe that every pet deserves as good a holiday as their owner.

We really care

We really care

We believe our care is second to none and look after your pet as if it was one of our own.  It’s like being grandparents, we’re delighted to see them come and happy to hand them back into your care.  But while they’re with us, we will provide a food that suits and try everything to settle any upset tummies due to a change in environment.  We will sit with the new and the nervous so that they get comfortable around us and all the new and strange noises, smells and the other holidaymakers.  We will also keep an eye out for anything that we think needs attention.  If it’s significant, then, like you, we have no hesitation in contacting either our vet or your own but if we can clip nails or apply an ointment or give your dog a bath so that it’s clean & warm we will do that.

Our best recommendation is a wagging tail on arrival (dogs, obviously!) and delight to go home.  Then we think we’ve done our job well!

What makes us special

What makes us special

  • Puppies and kittens can be boarded from their first set of completed inoculations

  • The well-being, security and hygiene of your pet are all high on our list of priorities
  • Whilst our facilities may not be the most modern, our care is first class

Boarding Policy

Boarding Policy

We are licensed and fully insured to board up to 32 dogs and 37 cats. Under the terms of my licence, we can only accept animals with fully up to date inoculations. We don’t insist on Kennel Cough as it’s not a mandatory vaccine and we are aware that some dogs react badly to it.

For certain pets – young puppies or kittens or older pets who have never been kennelled before – it may be beneficial to have a Taster Day in advance of your main booking so they can get used to us and their new surroundings and we can gauge their needs when it comes to a longer stay.

We are happy to give medications, including insulin injections, at no extra charge but will need written instruction from you as it’s so important we get that right.
