About us

Copdock Kennels and Boarding Cattery has been established on this site for over 40 years. We are set in peaceful 1.5 acres of private land in the country but are still very accessible from both the A12 and the A14. We are also only an hour away from Stansted Airport.

We are proud of the fact that customers come back to us time and again. Unlike many kennels, viewings are encouraged and welcomed during our opening hours so we can show you our facilities and discuss your pets’ needs in more detail.

We believe that every pet deserves as good a holiday as their owner.  We’re aware our accommodation isn’t 5*. Yet. But we’re continually working on that and have some long term plans which we hope will vastly improve your pet’s experience of a holiday with us.

In the meantime, what we absolutely don’t skimp on is our care.  We believe we’re second to none and we look after your pet as if it was one of our own.  It’s like being grandparents, we’re delighted to see them come and happy to hand them back into your care.  But while they’re with us, we will provide a food that suits and try everything to settle any upset tummies due to a change in environment; we will sit with the new and the nervous so that they get comfortable around us, all the new and strange noises and smells and the other holidaymakers; and we will keep an eye out for anything that we think needs looking after.  If it’s significant, then, like you, we have no hesitation in contacting either our vet or your own but if we can clip nails or apply an ointment or give your dog a bath so that it’s clean & warm we will do that.

Our best recommendation is a wagging tail on arrival (dogs, obviously!) and delight to go home.  Then we think we’ve done our job well

What’s special about us?

  • Puppies and kittens can be boarded from their first set of completed inoculations
  • Expert & experienced staff with years of familiarity handling many different dogs and cats

  • The well-being, security and hygiene of your pet are all high on our list of priorities

  • Whilst our facilities may not be the most modern, our care is second to none

Boarding policy

We are licensed and fully insured to board up to 32 dogs and 30 cats. Under the terms of my licence, we can only accept animals with fully up to date inoculations.  We don’t insist on Kennel Cough as we are aware that some dogs react badly, but are prepared to deal with it, should the occasion arise.

For certain pets – young puppies or kittens, older pets who have never been kennelled before –  it may be beneficial to have a familiarisation day in advance of main booking so they can get used to us and their new surroundings and we can gauge their needs.

We are happy to give medications, including insulin injections, on instruction from you at no extra charge.

Viewing Our Premises

If you would like to come and look around we would welcome an opportunity to show you our facilities during our opening hours.
